“Candy Canes”

The candy cane is a common Christmas symbol because it is shaped like a shepherd’s crook, reminding us that Jesus is The Good Shepherd. The red and white stripes symbolize both Christ’s sacrifice and his purity, relatively. It is no surprise then that I, an artist working primarily in wool with sheep as her muse, especially love how closely candy canes are tied to shepherds.

Ernie and Irene prints are inspired by the spiritual life. By surrounding ourselves with inspired imagery, the same power of stained glass windows comes out of parishes and into the world. Inspired by “visio divina,'' these stockings not only spark conversation, but also lead us into our own meditation and reflection as we wear them.
